Global Relocation Trends - Industry Spotlight Report

Flexibility in global employee mobility continues to be a topic of interest and discussion, particularly as related to the assignment and transfer policies. Many companies want it, and a number have tried it. The question is: how are companies making it work?

During the first quarter of 2011, Brookfield Global Relocation Services conducted in-depth interviews with international employee mobility leaders in four global companies that have incorporated flexible elements into their international assignment policies. The insight gathered during these interviews was incorporated into a report featuring four detailed case studies analyzing the companies’ experience with implementing flexibility into policy.

The report addresses both trends in flexible policy development as well as presents case studies for each of the participating companies addressing:

  • Mobility environment prior to incorporating flexibility and impetus for change
  • Company approach to program development, including consensus building, decision-making, determination of type of flexibility to be introduced
  • Description of selected approach and implementation process
  • Impact on program administration and assignee satisfaction
  • Lessons learned
